From five tables to a Dallas tradition

In November 1990, Jose turned a shuttered Richardson ice cream shop into a five-table Mexican restaurant called Mexi-Go — and never looked back. Thirty-four years later, Don Pepe's Rancho is still family-owned, still made from scratch, and still just getting started.

Jose spotted a closing Richardson ice cream shop and turned it into Mexi-Go — five tables, family recipes from Mexico City, and a promise of real food made from scratch every day.

By 1993, the crowds had outgrown those five tables. Jose moved into a larger Richardson home with a courtyard patio and a bar — and gave it the name it's carried ever since: Don Pepe's Rancho.

Through every expansion, the standards never budged — chips and salsa made fresh daily, tableside guacamole, and a Famous Tortilla Soup guests have called a benchmark for over three decades.

When the pandemic hit and the Richardson building was sold, loyal guests refused to let it end. In 2021, Don Pepe's Rancho reopened as a Dallas flagship — with a full tequila bar, spacious patio, and playground.

Thirty-four years in, the same family still runs the kitchen, still cooking from scratch. Three generations of regulars call this place home — and there's always room for one more.
